LaOnf
The Iraqi civil-society organization LaOnf (which means “no violence” in Arabic) is a network of Iraqi activists building a nonviolence movement to resist occupation, terrorism and corruption in Iraq. Peaceful Tomorrows is launching a Solidarity Campaign in support of LaOnf.

Adele Welty
Adele Welty is the mother of Firefighter Timothy Welty, lost in the line of duty on September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. She is a retired geriatric social worker, and formerly worked as a supervisor for the New York City Department for the Aging, providing services to elderly victims of crime and domestic elder abuse. She is a member of the Steering Committee of September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows and traveled to Afghanistan four years ago to meet with victims' families to promote peace and reconciliation. She has recently returned from Iraq where she met with the members of La Onf who were planning their third annual week of nonviolence. Ms. Welty also traveled to Cuba last year to protest the human rights violations at the Guantanamo prison there. Ms. Welty is 72 years old and has seven grandchildren.
